Recommended

To follow are some recommended resources. I feel it’s important to consider a variety of viewpoints with as open a mind as possible.

Spirituality

I Am Episcopalian
A video project that showcases the diverse people who are part of the Episcopal church.

Unity
A “New Thought” (i.e., New Age) Christian denomination, the Unity website has tons of resources. Make sure you check out the Daily Word.

Agape
I used to attend this New Thought “spiritual center” when I lived in Los Angeles. You can watch their services online for free.

Religion Dispatches
Religion Dispatches is a left-leaning site that covers religious issues in the news and politics. There are many thoughtful pieces in here, and some that tend towards wanting to recreate Jesus as a leftist (who must therefore would have been pro-Democrat in terms of U.S. government policy in their minds, but I think Jesus could have easily ended up a libertarian!). I don’t agree with everything here but there are some nice gems.

Bil Cornelius
A young, hip evangelical with a casual, modern approach, Bil Cornelius offers up a dose of life advice with Jesus thrown in.

Perry Stone
Perry Stone is very evangelical. He’s also quite fascinating. He knows all sorts of little tidbits and facts about Biblical history. He also talks a lot about Biblical prophecy, and sometimes ties that in to the “New World Order.”

Bryon Katie
People think Byron Katie is either a cult leader or an ascended master of sorts. I simply find her method, called “The Work,” to be extremely useful when needing to detach from upsetting thoughts and beliefs.

Holistic Health

Reiki Awakening Academy
A place where you can take online courses in spirituality and energy healing. (You might find a course from me there!)

Pranic Healing
Pranic Healing is a very powerful form of energy healing. The pranic healing website often offers free live video streams with master teacher Stephen Co.

Natural News
Mike Adams, founder of Natural News, is a very opinionated guy who has an amazing website filled with articles on holistic health and well-being. Mike is an extremely outspoken critic of Big Pharma and the big food conglomerates.

Sustainability

Enenews
One of the few places where you can get up-to-date Fukushima news.

Transition Network
A grass-roots network helping people create a sustainable lifestyle and prepare for life after oil.

Life After the Oil Crash
Eye-opening, and often scary, statistics and information about our coming peak oil crisis.

Post Peak Living
Post Peak Living offers online courses in sustainability and self-sufficiency, on topics such as “sustainable gardening” and “post-peak livelihoods.”

Econobloggers

TF Metals Report
“Turd Ferguson” covers the precious metals market with a generous dose of humor and a good heart. Oh, and I also helped build the website.

Charles Hughes Smith
Charles Hughes Smith is one of my favorite writers – he looks beyond right vs. left at the problems we face and offers some pragmatic solutions. He is aware that a collapse may be on the horizon but avoids doom and gloom.

Fiat’s Fire
Lots of doom and gloom here, but a good roundup of what’s going on.

Chris Martenson
Chris Martenson offers a free “Crash Course” that explains the serious problems we have with the economy, energy and the environment, and how our lives will change as a result.

Karl Denninger – Market Ticker
Karl is an acerbic, outspoken guy who does not mince words…which is why I like him. He gives the straight dope on the reality behind the media spin on our economy. He’s critical of both the Democrats and Republicans, wants Wall Street and the big banks to be held accountable for their actions, and his motto is: Stop the Looting, Start the Prosecuting.

Zero Hedge
More news and views about the economy beyond the rosy media spin.

Really Out There

Coast to Coast AM
This radio show offers a variety of strange perspectives from various eclectic and weird guests.

Alex Jones
More than you ever wanted to know about the New World Order. Alex Jones is a big blowhard, but I love him for it. I don’t agree with everything he says – take him with a big grain of salt – but he does have some interesting perspectives on our growing “police state.”

David Icke
The premiere “loony tune” conspiracy guy, David Icke literally believes that reptilian shapeshifters are in control of our government. And yet, he’s highly spiritual, and there’s something about him that makes sense. I like to think the “reptile” thing is more of a metaphor than a reality.

Dutchsinse
“Dutchsinse” is an independent video blogger who follows the weather and provides earthquake reports. He suspects that “HAARP” may be responsible for some of the weather patterns, and bases his weather forecasts on “HAARP” rings. I’m a little skeptical about HAARP controlling the weather, but I still find his videos interesting.
